Dolchstreithammer - Dagger of Burning liars - 1 (1)

King Mertin sits onhis throne waiting for news of his lost love Lania. Lania has been kidnapped by a hooded figure who had a dagger made of green gold with a rats skull on the sheathe, and could appear and reappear with a blink of an eye. It appears the Dagger of liars has returned to this reality. After all the work King Mertin and his powerful mage brother Turtin went through to seal it away, it seems someone was able to break Turtin’s seal.

Mertin believed since his brother gave his life to seal the dagger that no one in this world could unseal it. If eyewitnesses are true. Then the kingdom of Hiyata is in grave danger.

“King Mertin your highness! I come with word from witnesses in and out of the kingdom.” A poorly dressed man shouts as he enters the royal hall that is dimly lit for the loss of lady Lania. The gargoyle arches that stare down on the lonely king fill the once busting castle with the feel of doom.

“Speak my child. Let me know what you have found.” Mertin said.

“Several sources confirmed it was the dagger my king. Then one source said they know who the suspect was.” The man hesitated.

“Why do you stop! I demand you tell me this instant! My sweet Lania is gone. Any information that you have must be shared to save my beautiful Lania.” The king became frantic and uneasy.

“Your highness I say this with reluctance. The lowly peasant said he knew it was your younger brother Turtin with no doubt. We even threatened that if he lied our paladin would call the thunder of Lord Thobien, our great creator would smite him down and make him no more. Still, the man confessed it was thy brother.” The man shook with fear like a shrub in the wind.

“Duke Franding you dare to bring up my brother Turtin! The brother I was beside when the goblins of the dagger of liars eviscerated him, while sealing it in the great goblin tunnel! You Dare to besmudge Turkin’s name? Under The great Lords holy castle? I should have my paladins smite you as you stand!” The king stood with his belly bouncing in anger. The portly king screamed and threw a tantrum just like a child would.

“I demand answers for these insulting accusations now Franding! If thy cannot give me good reason for these blasphemous rumors. I will have my paladins lock you up before sacrificing you to Lord Thobien.” The king's red face burned like fire.

Duke Franding reached into his dirty battle torn cloak pulling out a piece of cloth. “This my King is the proof I present to thee.” Franding kneeled holding the cloth above his head. The king snapped his fingers as the two hulking paladins in blinding gold armor advanced to retrieve the cloth.

“Well! What is it?” The king huffed.

The paladin pulled up his face shield and turned to the king. The paladin's face expressed horror as he babbled to get out the words. Only before he could lightning struck down through him sending out a blinding glow.

The other paladin dove on the king to sacrifice himself from the blast. Pieces of castle flew everywhere. Killing several in the royal hall some were cut in half from the blast. The paladin that protected the king had his head crushed by a piece of castle. The sound of crunching metal and brains squishing haunted the ears of the king.

Finally, the king rose to his feet, as he looked around seeing all the devastation that was caused and the big cloud of white smoke in the center of the hall. The royal guards began to form into surrounding the area of large white smoke. The crown lay beside the king, and he crouched down to pick it up. King Mertin places it on his head and shouts.

“Who dares attack the great king Mertin in his royal hall in such a cowardly way?

All the guards draw out their Axes and swords. The king pushes through the defensive circle throwing men out of the way with his sheer strength. He was a hulking figure to most in Hiyata. Although portly now and out of shape.

“You think I king Mertin cannot see you in that smoke coward. Come out now I may look out of shape, but I assure you I am one of the strongest warriors in these lands! You must now deal with me!”

The smoke still thick a tall figure only a few inches smaller than king Mertin emerged. The figure wore red armor with only one gauntlet on their left arm, that had large claws that were the length of five small daggers. On theirleft arm there was no gauntlet, but in theirhand, a large metal staff. At the end of the staff was a ruby orb that looked like the inside was on fire. They had strange symbols on the chest armor engraved in black. Finally, a black cloak covered the head of the figure. They reach up and pull down the hood revealing themselves to the king.

The king stared in awe as they stepped closer and quickly impaling the king with their dagger hand. The king gargled blood and fell to the ground. “Never!” The king gargled before closing his eyes, he opened them once more and the person was gone.
