ONE MONTH LATER

A horse rounds the cliff face of Godly Mountain the man on the horse has a letter sealed with the gold wax crest of Hiyata. The horse mounted man approaches a little camp on the mountain top. “Lord Capsan! Lord Capsan! I announce myself a Letter bearer from Hiyata Kingdom on behalf of your royal highness king Mertin! He has been gravely wounded and has not awakened since. The four chosen holy priests keep him alive by way of incantation. They have sent me to make sure you receive this letter and two after me just in case I fail! The man shouts as he arrives in the encampment.

“How did you find me young letter bearer?” I low ruffled voice came from all directions.

The young man was startled as he knew not from where it came and saw no man speak to him. “I was told you would be here Lord Capsan. The young man trembled.

“Yes, but how did they know?” The voice came once more.

“Holy paladins with the seeing eyes of Thobien.” he replied.

“Ah devils I see. Hiyata has not changed.” The voice once again.

“Devils sir?” The young man asked with a confused look.

It was quite for a few moments when the ground began to move, and a cape twirled full of earth spun around throwing rocks and dirt everywhere the once camouflaged cloak now wrapped around the head of a large man wearing chest armor with a dragon crest stamped on it and deep claw marks from some beast. The chest piece was the only armor other than his shins and elbows. He wore thick green and brown garb making the camouflage that much more effective. The man also sported a long beard and short brown hair. The man’s face had deep scars and only one green eye, the right eye sported a patch.

“Never mind that long story! What is your name, boy? Give me that letter I am Capsan!” He said as he walked to the horse gently petting it before snatching the letter. Capsan grumbled and fumbled trying to tear it open.

“I am Prince Wispin heir to the Hiyata Throne son of great King Mertin.” The young man said with pride.

“Wait you are the Kings son?” Capsan asked with a worried look.

“Can you fight lad?” Capsan asked in a stern voice.

“What is going on Capsan?” The boy said with panic.

“Can you fight? Can you wield a sword child?” Capsan said angrily.

“I train with Sir Mouser. My father's right-hand paladin. Are we in trouble sir?” Wispin’s voice shakes.

“Grave danger boy you led them right to me! Only I am not the target.” Capsan replied.

“Why would they be after me?” Wispin shouted.

“Take my cloak it is lined with chainmail and cover yourself like I did in plain sight no arrow or sword will penetrate it. Be still though young Wispin, if I shall fall you will be on your own.”

Capsan threw his cloak to Wispin who was dismounting the horse. Capsan then smacked the horse in its rear leading it away from the area. Then pulled from his waist a terrifying war hammer like nothing Wispin had ever seen. The hammer side was a steel fashioned Goblin skull. Wispin could tell because of the big eye sockets and unusual small nose. The pick side was like a small scythe the size of a dagger. If the hammer wouldn’t bash them to death the pick would gouge them to death. This sent a chill up Wispin spine. He noticed one final detail and the was the gold crest that was practically the same as his father's crest but instead of a great sword with the lion. It was a war hammer like what he wielded.

Capsan then walked over to a sack around the campsite and pulled out the most magnificent shield Wispin had ever seen. The shield shined a polished silver like a mirror. Wispin could see himself so clearly, he noticed that his eyes were bulbous and his face so concave from malnutrition. Wispin’s eyes grew and did not stop. Wispin fell to the ground and began to claw at his face vigorously.

Pain reverberated through his head as he heard. “Lad, I told you not to look at it! Snap out of it!”

Then there were several thuds followed by pain. “Ouch! Why did you do that? Why did you hit me?” Wispin shouted as he rubbed the back of his head.

“I told you not too look at the shield as I pulled it out! Do you always do the opposite of what you are told boy?” Capsan said angrily before facing the shield to the ground. “It's called the shield of sorrows. It has claimed many of minds throughout time, it distorts reality of whomever look at it. Lucky for you it takes some time, it shows you many things it shows you things that drive you mad.” Capsan took a spear and shoved it in the ground. Then began to tie the shield to said spear. “This will catch one of two of them for me.” He said with a smile. Then became serious. “Now, go and cover yourself we will speak after if I am still alive!”

Wispin hesitated but the sound of several galloping horses in the distance snapped him out of it. Capsan nodded towards the center of camp where the hole he was in waited for Wispin’s body. Then Capsan pulled out a steel disc the size of a dinner plate and a strap that hugged his open hand and the disc covered his knuckles like a glove. He smacks the dead center of the disc on his hand with great force. It expands into a shield this time a shield that could block any blade. Wispin finds himself belly down in the hole as the gallops get closer. He places the chainmail camouflage sheet over his body and closes his eyes.
