Aseafood free low country boil recipe with smoked pork neck bones, corn on the cob, baby red potatoes, onions, and carrotsmade in the slow cooker!
Hey y’all! It is cookout, and fish fry season! Everyone and their mama will be hosting some type of get together. If you have a family like mine you can count on eating lots of barbecue ribs, potato salad, , fried fish, and low country boils. Speaking of low country boils, you may remember my seafood boil recipe that I posted last year. Once I uploaded the recipe, so many of you shared it on Facebook, and Instagram. Even a few media outlets shared it! I got a ton of questions about the recipes, and a few of you even asked me to upload a seafood free boil. Well I thought of a few different ingredients, and came up with a super easy low country boil thateveryone will enjoy… A Low Country Neck Bone Boil!
This boil is delicious. This recipe includes red potatoes, corn, onions, carrots, and a ton of smoked pork neck bones( that flavor up everything in the pot!). Smoked pork neck bones are super flavorful, inexpensive, and damn right delicious! Therefore I love using them in a lot of my southern and soul food dishes.
FYI if you do not eat pork, you can substitute the pork neck bones with smoked turkey wings. It will not hurt this recipe one bit!

For this receipe can I use regular neckbones? If so what seasoning should I use? I love your receipes. You are an amazing cook. Thanks for always sharing.Reply
Rosie says
You could use regular neck bones, but it would not taste the same. That would be a different recipe.

Hey Rosie! Plz don’t nobody say I’m trying to take credit; I am not! But I tried this recipe 7 yrs ago, but soaked the neckbone overnight with old Bay. I did add more to the pot also beer…(ur right smoked neckbines would’ve been better) . I must not have added enough old Bay. But it was still good to me.
God bless. Gmom NitaReply
Rosie says
I would have never thought of adding beer! I gotta try that!

Rosie,
Could I substitute the pork neck bones with smoked turkey necks? Do you think it would radically change the flavor/taste? My wife and I love your blog. ThanksReply
Rosie says
Hi Kelvin! I don’t think the taste would be that noticeable. However, You will have to cook it longer.

I made this for dinner today, (9-21-2020), and it was absolutely DELICIOUS! I followed the ingredients exactly, but the only change I made was that I let it stay in the crock pot for 7 hours on high. At 4 hours, the meat wasn’t quite as “falling off the bone” tender as we like it. This recipe is a “must try”.Reply
Zakiyyah Carter says

I love your recipesReply
Kathleen says
Excellent, but I prefer to hold off on the veggies (excepting onion) for a couple hours and like to add cabbage, parsnips, green beans, rutabaga, sweet potatoes, etc. per what I have on hand. Of course, adding cold vegetables will slow cooking time, but they hold more original flavor and shape. Hearty, filling and so tasty!Reply
