Pokémon General Thread (2)yes that's the right word for it.

Also I'm not as Gamefreak lied about why dexit happened in the first place.

I mean hell SV has plenty of art as well despite the slight art direction change. I know I found the art looking a little different from the last two gens lol, still pretty nice though.

You know what, why doesn't Pokรฉmon have voice acting?

Considering one of the Gym Leaders in S/V was a rapper it would be a good time to introduce voice acting to the series, and since this is literally the most successful multimedia franchise on earth, they can afford it.

I'm in the Simlish camp personally. Just have them speak nonsense if you don't wanna fully voice them. Pokémon General Thread (6)

Pokémon General Thread (11)Pokémon General Thread (12)Pokémon General Thread (13)Not really; some games I've seen like the Rune Factory series usually have the voice actors skip over the parts where the player's name would be.

As for why Game Freak refused, my bet is that it's not just laziness, but also that they think no voice acting is part of the series' "charm": They probably think not having real voices is an actual appeal for the earlier games, so they stuck to it while also avoiding paying voice actors.

Though if you ask me, I would prefer them using Mario-style Simlish (i.e. only making a short noise when a text box opens).

I don't think anyone's asking for the entirety of NPC dialog to be voiced - Just full cutscenes.

Here was a fan-made version of cutscenes in Scarlet/Violet with voice acting. (spoiler warning)

I maintain that having vocal grunts akin to Zelda would work best

What unique type combination do you want to see more representation? For me, it'd be Water/Fire. Given only a mythical currently has it its pretty limited in usage and you would have to be creative in using it

I am fine with with the characters being voiceless. Actually thinking about having voices sound weird to me lol. Pokemon Masters has everyone fully voiced but I am neutral about it

If they actually full on voices in the main line games it'll probably be interesting to compare the voices they have in Masters vs the voices they have the anime.

I would like to see Electric/Ghost, Electric/Fire and Electric/Grass get more representation outside of Rotom

I was never bothered too much by the lack of voice acting in the main Pokemon games. I probably won't have any particularly strong feelings if the next game continues to not have voice acting; I just hope that the characters are fun to be around.

I'd love for more Fire/Electric types. Right now it's just one Rotom form, and you can do so much cool stuff with fire and electricity. Also, maybe a Bug/Dragon, which may or may not resemble the Xenomorph from Alien.

Pokemon not having voice acting became extremely glaring come the Switch era.

I'm not the kind of person who says every video game needs voicework, but when your big blockbuster JRPG has multiple cutscenes of characters standing around moving their mouth in dead silence, it looks unacceptably stupid. For f*ck's sake, don't call attention to it.

If smaller franchises like Fire Emblem and Xenoblade can afford to be fully voiced, Pokemon can at the very least voice its major cutscenes. No excuses.

As for the discrepancy between fan reception to SwSh and the amount of fanart of its characters, as one of SwSh's most vocal critics I'll still be the first to say that it has some really solid character designs, some of the best the series has ever had. I just wish they were in a better game.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!

I think Sword and Shield sold so well because every Switch game sells well, and they were still riding the high of Pokรฉmon Go.

I mean dexit and textures aside, it was still a great pair of games. Dynamax was a mechanic that breathed a lot of life (in VGC), the music and characters were great, it was the first game with DLC which meant more areas and stories than normal, etc

Can't say I feel the same as the characters and story is the weakest among the games, the music is ok to mid, Galar as a region is lame, the gimmick of big pokemon is a poor man's mega and z-move combined, the wild area got very little use and more so when the DLC came out, over all only the pokemon themselves are the only good thing to came out of sword and shield.

Pokémon General Thread (31)Pokémon General Thread (32)Dexit and the textures of certain things in the game didn't bother me too much, so I'd say that Sword was overall a great game for me. I especially had a lot of fun with the raids, and I'm glad that Scarlet and Violet continued featuring raids.

I still boot up my copy of Sword fairly frequently, especially since I've recently been on a bit of a Mark-hunting fever and am having fun finding Pokemon with Marks on them.
